About Us

Rick Shorrock has been operating Big Byte Video Productions since the year
2000. His love of movies started much earlier; when, at the early age of
six, he started watching "Star Trek." "Rick would stay glued to the set and
would not let anyone change the channel until he was finished watching the
credits," his brother Steve, the owner of S.O.S. Pro Marketing, remarked.
"We always thought he'd get a job in the motion picture business." He threw
himself into filmmaking with a passion, using a Super-8 camera to shoot
family and friends as actors and editing the film on a home-made editing
bench. When he joined the U.S. Navy in the nineteen-eighties, he shot 16mm
film on a Beaulieu camera and learned how to process the film himself. A
video production company seemed to be the next logical step in the
progression from hobbyist to professional. "It took some doing on my part," Shorrock would later say. "I grew up shooting film, and most everything in
the creative process, from lighting to exposure to editing, changed when I
switched to digital video."
But
with several large projects under his belt, from corporate video for the
Formula Ford 2000 race team, Hendrix & Dail (a leader in the golf course fumigation market), and
Florida Atlantic University (just to name a few); and the company's work
having appeared on ESPN and the Outdoor Life Network, the future of Big Byte
Video Productions couldn't be brighter.
